Dear colleagues,
As the Chair of the Local Organizing Committee of the 10th European Congress of Virology, I warmly invite you to join this international gathering of the European virology community in the beautiful town of Cagliari from June 7 to June 11, 2027.
After the years of the Coronavirus pandemics, ECV 2027 will be once more a great opportunity for European virologists from different fields of research to meet again, to present their results and to discuss the advances reached in the recent years. It will be also a great opportunity to meet new colleagues, renew old acquaintances and establish new collaborations. The ECV is also a fantastic chance for younger scientists to present their most recent developments in their work and to confront with the senior scientists of the European virology community.
With the support of the International Scientific Committee, we are already working to assemble a high quality, up to date, and informative scientific program, spanning from emerging and re-emerging human pathogenic viruses to research areas that will include basic, clinical, veterinary and plant virology.
The Congress will be held in Cagliari, in the south of the Sardinian Island, in the heart of the Mediterranean Sea. Cagliari is a thousand-year-old city full of history (form pre-Roman, to medieval to modern), culture (Roman amphitheater, museums, beautiful churches, a 400 year old university), and nature (for example salt mines and former salt mines that are now natural parks inhabited by one of the major flaming colonies in Europe). Cagliari is built upon seven hills with historic neighborhoods such as Castello, full of bastions and medieval alleys, and Marina, once an area of fishermen and traders, and a magnificent seaside with one of the longest urban beaches in Europe: the wonderful Poetto beach.
The ECV 2027 venue is the modern 4-star design T-Hotel, in the city center adjacent to the Cagliari Lyric Theatre, known for its contemporary style and excellent service. The main hall offers space for 500 attendants, and the Hotel has already been used for many major conferences in the last years.
We plan to organize the 10th ECV so that it may continue the tradition of two decades of excellent European Virology meetings. Your participation in the 10th ECV in Cagliari will ensure that the meeting will be a scientifically stimulating and socially enjoyable event.
We look forward to welcoming you in Cagliari!
